Hi ! my name is Merrill Stulken. My background and experience has been centered around equipment and heavy construction for over 45 years. I grew up on a large farm with crops, dairy and commercial crops for a local cannery. In 1976, I started my own construction business building commercial and agricultural buildings as well as home construction. I worked as a contractor for UPS, ITT Rayonier, Cascade Hardwood, M & M Transport, Lewis County, Grays Harbor County, Cowlitz County, a wide variety of other businesses and private customers. In 1983, I found Ketchikan Alaska and fell in love with the life style. I moved my construction business from Chehalis Washington to Ketchikan and became involved in land development which included a rock crushing business and a cement plant.

I built custom homes and large industrial projects including a new sawmill for the local Louisiana Pacific Corporation. Many customers were fathers and sons and then grandsons of the same family! In a small island community your word is how you succeed and it better be good! I am proud to say I worked for 70% or more of the local residents and families over the 30+ years I was there. My business plan was simple - Give every customer everything you promised them and leave them completely satisfied and believing they got more than they expected! My Dad taught me to do what you said you would do and back up my work with old fashioned service!

In August of 2012, I found a small farm in Curtis Washington not far from my Dad's place and decided to move there from Ketchikan Alaska. I put in my own airstrip and built a 50' x 100' hangar which needed a large door. In 2015 I met Peter Seitz and his wife Ramona and this is when I saw their door that they manufactured in Ketchum Oklahoma. One thing led to another and I am happy to say I am buying the door company from them. During our partnership we developed a second door which is similar in geometry to the original door, but the new design doesn't put any loads on the header. It is basically a Free Standing door that works in all buildings such as pole frame, stick frame and steel buildings.

My FREE STANDING design saves my customers thousands of dollars over any door that is hanging entirely outside of a building. My door is the simplest, safest and best door on the market. It is fully patented and has a 5 year warranty.
